A young Arab journalist returns to his hometown―an Arab village within Israel―where his already vexed sense of belonging is forced to crisis when the village becomes a pawn in the never-ending power struggle that is the Middle East. Hoping to reclaim the simplicity of life among kin, the prodigal son returns home to find that nothing is as he remembers: everything is smaller, the people are petty and provincial. But when Israeli tanks surround the village without warning or explanation, everyone inside is cut off from the outside world. As the situation grows increasingly dire, the village devolves into a Darwinian jungle, where paranoia quickly takes hold and threatens the community's fragile equilibrium.

Let It Be Morning, by Sayed Kashua

From Publishers Weekly Kashua's second novel (after Dancing Arabs) illuminates the lives of Israel's Arab minority. An unnamed Israeli Arab journalist returns from Tel Aviv to his home village with his wife and infant daughter, in search of cheaper living. There, residents flip anxiously between Hebrew news and al-Jazeera to make sense of daily life, and high school students wear both the latest Western clothes and veils in increasing numbers. The journalist's cosmopolitan wife hates their parochial hometown, and when the protagonist finds himself eased out of his position at a prominent Jewish newspaper (surmising that "the privilege of criticizing government policy was an exclusively Jewish prerogative"), he has to hide his unemployment from her. Then one morning, the journalist finds that the Israelis have cordoned the town, cutting off all communication with the outside world. The town is plagued by infighting, mutual suspicion and rekindled feuds, revealing fault lines in the Arab community. Kashua is a journalist for the Israeli daily Ha'aretz, and he writes about the Israeli Arabs' balancing act with knowledge and passion. From School Library Journal Adult/High School–A young Arab-Israeli journalist moves from Tel Aviv back to his childhood village with his wife and baby daughter just in time to be caught up in a series of harrowing, dramatic events. In response to Israels military presence in the village, neighbors and relatives find themselves fighting one another in order to survive. The first-person narrative gives this novel the sort of immediacy often found in YA fiction; although the narrator is nearly 30, the short chapters and fast pace, combined with the memories of youth that his return home elicits, make for an easy fit for older teens with an interest in other cultures or current events. Some words or concepts are not explicitly defined, but are made clear in context. A real strength here is the unusual perspective; the novel relates the experience of those caught in the middle, the Arab-Israelis who are citizens but are separated from many of their countrymen by faith and heritage. The unspoken answer to the unnamed protagonists query about his own village: Who are they anyhow? is hinted at in the unsettling conclusion. A natural choice for teens who have discovered Albert Camus The Stranger.–Jenny Gasset, Orange County Public Library, CA Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc. Guzman A young journalist, his wife, and baby daughter leave their rented apartment in an Israeli city and move to the Arab village in which the couple grew up. Feeling not that much a part of the Jewish establishment in which he works anymore, this journalist thinks that returning to what was once familiar will be comforting. The sad realization overtakes him that he is not returning to the same place he left 10 years earlier. It's not so much that the writing is good, but it's the fact that the words the author chooses so acutely and accurately convey his feelings--the most pervasive one being the burden of an Arab feeling at ease any place at all in Israel. How odd that I should have chosen this book to read precisely during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 2006. I really feel for the Israeli Arabs who seek a home in which they can feel comfortable and secure at all times. This book takes a a further and more painful step into the uncormfortable world between Jew and Arab. In Dancing Arabs, the author tread lightly on this precarious relationship. In Let it be Morning, Kashua heads from the psychological problems to the threat of physical harm as well. Where can the line be drawn into comfortably fitting Arabs into the life of the Jewish state? That's the issue this difficult, but engrossing, read is trying to express. The story left me breathless. The tension was unbelievable as the author drove deeply into me into what it must really feel like to be in the limbo of the Arab-Israeli world. I much look forward to reading more work by this amazingly talented writer.

An interesting perspective on Israeli society By Marissa I decided to read this book when I learned it was written by the creator of Avodah Aravit (Arab Labor), a television show I became fond of while spending a semester abroad in Israel. I imagine this book lost a lot in its translation from Hebrew to English, particularly in regard to language (perhaps I should attempt to read it in Hebrew), but I still felt the voice and perspective provided by this author and this work is not to be missed, especially for those interested in Israeli Society, Arabs in Israel, and the complexity of the region in general. The place of an Arab Israeli in that complex society is a fascinating one, and I think that this work really provides insight into this. It portrays what it's like to live in a Jewish city, to return from the Jewish city to the Arab village in which you were raised, to work in Jewish workplaces, and be a part of the society without necessarily being a full member of it. This portrayal felt authentic. At first I had a difficult time placing the plot of the novel in an exact time period. All I could tell was that it took place sometime after the outbreak of the Second Intifada. However, by the end of the novel, you realize that the time it's supposed to take place is sometime around now, and exactly when around now it is does not necessarily matter. The ending, too, is surprising in many senses, and I was surprised I didn't see it come it.Overall, I recommend this novel highly. Kashua is a daring and brave voice in Israeli literature, and the perspective he provides in his works is truly invaluable.

The protagonist is a young Arab journalist who comes from one of the influential and prosperous village families. The emphasis is on what it means to be living in the Jewish state, but there is more to the novel than that. It takes a more general view of Arab family and village life and, more importantly, the protagonist is a well developed character, who I found very sympathetic. Still, it is important to question whether the novel is fair to the Jewish Israeli's. There are no sympathetic Jewish characters, but the Arabs are not painted in a very favorable light either. More bothersome to me is that the government inflicts great hardship on the village without apparent motive; i.e., it is trying to suppress any Arab political activity prior to the hypothetical announcement of a peace accord, but not only isolates the village, it cuts off its electricity, thereby disabling the pumps necessary for its water supply. At a roadblock, Arab migrant workers are casually gunned down without warning and before they could constitute a threat. On the other hand, as a supporter of the New Israel fund, which assists the underdogs, including Arab citizens, I know that some of the implied criticism of Israel and its Jewish majority is on the mark.

In the tradition of NBC’s THE BLACKLIST and BLINDSPOT, Space Buggy Press is proud to present AMERICAN HERCULES, a modern reimagining of the strongman’s classic Labors! THE LION OF NEMEA is part one in a six-part serialized storyline. Six years ago, decorated war hero Nathan Hercules awoke to find blood on his body, a knife in his hands, and his wife and children dead at his feet. He had no memory of committing this crime, but when the cops and lawyers came for him, he willingly signed the rest of his life away in order to save anyone else from being killed by his hands. In the time between then and now, Nathan has come to grips with his role in what had happened, and he’s become convinced that while he held the knife, someone else bears responsibility for what happened, too. What he needs is a way out. Enter Landon Eurystheus, the lawyer who put him away and currently a CIA Special Director, with an offer to help Nathan track down the truth. All Eurystheus wants in return is Nathan’s help in finding the one man in the world Nathan cares least about: Washington Zeus, the world’s richest missing person and Hercules’ biological father. Hercules agrees and joins Labor Division. Alongside disgraced FBI Agent Catherine Meda, field agent Ernest Echion, and computer expert Phocus Reilly, Hercules’ first labor sends him to west Texas to face the Lion of Nemea, a cult leader with a penchant for kidnapping and brainwashing women. The identity of the Lion of Nemea will force Hercules to confront his past as a member of the United States Special Forces, and the deal he made with a devil in the Afghan desert. AMERICAN HERCULES: THE LION OF NEMEA is part 1 of a 6 part series with the following release schedule: Season 1: The Hunt for Zeus Episode: Available #1: The Lion of Nemea: Now #2: The Hydra of Lerna: November 20, 2015 #3: The Hind of Keryn: December 5, 2015 #4: The Boar of Acadia: December 20, 2016 #5: The Stables of Augea: January 5, 2016 #6: The Birds of Stymph: January 20, 2016 All single episodes will only be available in ebook format. A New Hercules For A New Age By Derrick Ferguson For a good number of years now, film versions of the plays of William Shakespeare have been set in modern times or the near future. Or, like 1995's "Richard III" set in an alternate 1930s England that has embraced fascism. I myself like and appreciate these efforts to make Shakespeare more visually interesting and accessible. Not that I don't mind togas and sandals, you understand. But for me, Shakespeare takes on an added dimension when the characters are walking around in Armani suits and driving Mercedes Benzes.Three pages into AMERICAN HERCULES: The Lion of Nemea I caught on as to what Mark Bousquet was doing and I was grinning like an idiot. Partly because of the sheer audacity of what he's doing and mostly in admiration that he pulled it off so well and had me hooked ten pages in.AMERICAN HERCULES: The Lion of Nemea is the first part of a six part serial that at times felt to me like it could be the basis for a graphic novel or the pilot episode of a high octane action TV series. Mark Bousquet has adopted a lean, stripped down style to give us the origin of the main character, war hero and one man army Nathan Hercules and how he comes to work for The Labor Division, a black ops arm of The CIA. What Mark is giving us is a modern day retelling of the Greek myth of Hercules (or Herakles is you're a stickler for that sort of thing.)and his Twelve Labors. And much like how Shakespeare takes on an added dimension when set in modern day, the legend of Hercules likewise has a entirely new flavor being set in the shadow world of espionage, black ops and CIA double-and-triple dealings.Mark commits entirely to his conceit and just throws the reader right into the middle of the action. Just trust him and go along with it and you won't be disappointed. It's a short, yet tough and muscular read. And it's a lot of fun. Highly recommended.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. An Intriguing Start By Russell L. Anderson American Hercules takes the stories of ancient myth and represents them in a modern context. This isn't ancient, mythological Hercules returning for new adventures. The conceit is that those stories are happening right now, with modern analogs to the elements of well-known stories. The most obvious comparison I can think of is BBC's Sherlock. The result is violent and raunchy - just like the source material - and a lot of fun. Nathan Hercules is a former elite soldier, imprisoned for the murder of his family. He gets a chance to get back at the people who did this to him, hunting his missing father as a special agent for the FBI and CIA.I like the idea of short, bi-weekly episodes as part of a 6-episode "season". I'm looking forward to reading these as they come out.

Cooper - Northwoods Writer Allen Taylor has put together a good mix of stories, some more weird than others, but all of them mostly tied around a water meme.I can only think of one out of the entire mix that left me going "blah, blah..." but maybe it's because the whole alien "seeded" idea has been overdone. Or maybe it's just me.Otherwise, each story was compelling in its own and instinctively I know the editor had a hard time putting this anthology together. You might not realize it, but "weird" does NOT translate to easy and many of these authors did a supreme job with the weirdness.Take, for example, the story "The Fields of Nephilim" by Alex S. Johnson. Sorry, but the last name of the author will make you chuckle when you read this tale which includes such philosophical renderings as "Meanwhile, the fall of the Nephilim continued. Among the daughters of the people of Earth were the first Hos, called the Hohim, who craved the colossal tools of the Nephilim and did suck upon..." you get my meaning. lolMy eyes were wet with tears while reading that one...very clever Mr. Johnson. Indeed. All in all, worth the read my friends. Just do it. ;-)

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. This One has Street Cred By JD Lovil Author of Worldship Praxis I have a lot of respect for the work of the Editor of this multi-Author volume of Deluge related stories. Mr. Taylor has gone to a lot of work to put it together. I know this, for a fact. Getting multiple Authors to go along with any agenda not of their own making is like herding cats. The cats have lots of fun, but the corral gate never gets shut. All of the stories and poetic prose in this book are excellent work. Do you want to know what a day in the life of God is like? Do you want to experience the slow flooding of the world with water, as you climb higher and higher to live? Do you just want to experience strange twists to the general theme of the Flood that you never thought of before? If you answered any of these questions with a 'yes', then this is the book for you.Every story in this book was entertaining to me, but there were a few of them that I considered my favorites. Among these were Dreams of the Moon by Lorina Stephens, Aqualung by Anne Carly Abad, Fields of the Nephilim by Alex S. Johnson, The Sharptooth by Terry Alexander, and Angelblood by Frank Sawielijew. You might want to read the stories. You definitely need to keep your eyes on these Writers.Aqualung is prose on the subject that tickled my meaning bone, Fields of the Nephilim is just plain funny (and a little bit randy), and the other three tales bring strange tones to the subject matter that most readers will appreciate. The stories are all loosely based on the story of the Biblical Flood, but do not let that bother you. Even if you are intensely antireligious, these stories will bother you in their own right, not because of any religious content. All in all, I would give this book a well-deserved five stars. Read it. You will not regret it.

Pinocchio at the end will be successful, because is going back to school and learn.

The Adventures of Pinocchio (The Tale of a Puppet): Bilingual Edition

It's a long book but very nice divided in chapter and is very suitable for telling before children go to sleep. The story is still very interesting even if it was written more than 100 years ago, and is a good teaching for children not to say lies.

Dream Angus comes to you at night and bestows dreams―you may spot him skipping across the hills, his bag of dreams by his side. Just the sight of him may be enough to make you fall in love, for he is also the god of love, youth, and beauty. Divine Angus is cherished by all but fated to love only the beautiful Caér, swan maiden from his own dreams.

Crafting an ancient myth into a tale fabulously and irresistibly new, Dream Angus is the epitome of McCall Smith’s prose, beautifully weighted, sensuous in its expression, deliciously serene.

Five exquisite fables of modern dreamers unfold alongside Angus’s search for Caér. Mesmerically weaving together the tales of the Celtic Eros and his contemporary alter egos, Alexander McCall Smith unites dream and reality, leaving us to wonder: what is life, but the pursuit of our dreams?

Dream Angus: The Celtic God of Dreams (The Myths Series), by Alexander McCall Smith

From Publishers Weekly Angus is a god of dreams and love, and the Celtic mythology spun around his life and acts is cherished in both Ireland and Scotland. Clearly aware of the ramifications of taking sides, Page delivers his narration in a studiously neutral British voice. However, it is no surprise that the Scottish Smith, who currently writes two Edinburgh-based series, sets the five contemporary stories that parallel Angus's life in Scotland. For these sections, Page rolls out a hearty Scottish brogue and performs the characters in a lively fashion. Page is less successful with the narrative voice itself. The story is told from the perspective of Angus's mother, Boann, a water nymph. The peacefulness and sweetness of mother and son, combined with Page dropping his voice for the end of each sentence, might lull the listener into the dream state so favored by Angus. Nevertheless, this is one audio the entire family can listen to: it's perfect for a long winter evening by the fire with some hot cocoa. From Booklist *Starred Review* Scotsman McCall Smith's lyrical retelling of the ancient tale of Angus, Celtic god of dreams and love, is the latest entry in Canongate's Myth series, featuring such literary notables as Margaret Atwood, Chinua Achebe, and Karen Armstrong. Angus is the son of chief Celtic god Dagda and Boann, a water nymph. Soon after his birth, the infant is snatched up by his formidable father and delivered to Dagda's other son, Midir, to be raised. Too young to know better, Angus assumes his brother is his father. The clever boy soon learns the truth and plays a trick on his self-absorbed dad. Alongside this playful plot, McCall Smith weaves modern-day yarns in which well-intentioned (and often devious) Angus transforms troubled lives: he remedies a newlywed couple's rocky start; bonds two beloved Scottish brothers, soon to be separated by thousands of miles; and quietly intercedes to prevent a father and son from coming to blows. Best known for his internationally best-selling No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series, the prolific McCall Smith has delighted readers with books on topics ranging from eccentric German professors to Scottish sleuths and sausage dogs. This slim, elegant volume is further evidence of his consummate ability to blend wit, wisdom, and heart. Allison BlockCopyright © American Library Association. All rights reserved

Review "[Alexander McCall Smith's] prose has the merits of simplicity, euphony and precision. This is art that conceals art. I haven't read anything with such unalloyed pleasure for a long time." Sunday Telegraph "Alexander McCall Smith has become one of those commodities, like oil or chocolate or money, where the supply is never sufficient to the demand... [He] is prolific and habit-forming..." Globe And Mail "Alexander McCall Smith's subtle, gentle stories are works of art." Telegraph"

By Amy Aldrich I am not all that familiar with Celtic mythology and had actually never heard of Angus (god of dreams and love), so I was a bit worried that some bits of the story would be lost on me...but I need not have worried. Dream Angus is a quite a wonderful retelling of this myth. After doing a bit of research, I find that McCall Smith has kept the bones from source material and dressed them up in contemporary garments and he has, I believe, done it a very likeable and compelling way! Like a couple of others in this series, we are presented with vignettes which weave back and forth between ancient mythological settings and more contemporary ones; giving us the opportunity to hear Angus tale from birth to finding his own true love while also being given a glimpse of how he is still relevant in the modern world...for Angus, it seems still bestows upon us his precious and wonderful dreams! We find that Angus touches the lives of someone in each little story, and each is compelling and beautiful in its own way. I was particularly amused to see Angus cast as a psychotherapist using lucid dreaming to help his patients...a nice little twist! I would definitely recommend this as a light, but amusing retelling of Angus, Celtic God of Dreams, I don't think you'll be disappointed! I'm certainly glad to have read this and I'm looking forward to seeing more in this series!

By Patricia Tryon Perhaps you are owed the disclaimer that I will read with pleasure almost anything written by Alexander McCall Smith -- some titles with more pleasure than others, but anything with his name on the cover is practically guaranteed to provide gentle humor, sharp but never acerbic insight about people, and a view into worlds I have not previously been drawn."Dream Angus" hits all those marks and one more: it looks at the playful serious curious business of dreams and the purposes to which they might be put. There are all kinds of serious words that can be delivered about a little book like this and probably there are treatises about whether Smith has written down the "One True Angus" or the one that he has simply invented. But I am not an aficionado of myth. What I recommend with some fervor is this optimistic invitation to open oneself to possibiliities offered by the good, but perhaps unconventional scenarios of our dreams.Your minister or mother or physician could issue this invitation (or imperative) to you, but it would not be as much fun.

Mike Chapman has penned a warm and glowing tribute to the nation’s longest serving governor – Iowa’s Terry Branstad. Written in a folksy, down-home style, Chapman chronicles Branstad’s life from the farm near Leland to the Terrace Hill governor’s residence. An easy read, the book looks at the forces and people who shaped the governor. It’s something of a how-he-did-it manual that will interest Iowa history buffs and younger readers thinking about a political career for themselves. Branstad’s tenure isn’t finished so we’ll have to leave it to the historians and experts of tomorrow to dissect the legacy of his policies. For now, this work shows how a small-town boy worked his way to the top. You can like his politics or not, but you’ve got to admire Branstad’s tenacity, commitment to the state and his ability to win elections: 20 wins and no losses. – David Yepsen, Director of the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute and former Chief Political Writer for the Des Moines Register

By Amazon Customer This book was definitely meant for the type of kid/adult who enjoys the Series of Unfortunate Events. The author intrusions were very similar... and equally brilliant. It was an incredibly fun book to read. Now, for my advice as a parent...***POSSIBLE SPOILERS***Some reviews have noted that the book is scary. While the intensity was definitely heightened at the end, I think they're all referring to the scene very reminiscent of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom--the human sacrifice scene and the implication that there will also be cannibalism in some form. It all takes place in front of a cult group in a pyramid. (So, it's very like that Indiana Jones scene--minus the lava, but there is a giant bonfire.) While the child due to be killed is not one of the main kids and is ultimately saved, there have been previous missing kids who weren't so lucky. It's not graphic per se. The villain describes what he is going to do and makes preparations to do it. In a previous scene, there is a character who drinks something that possibly contains blood and there are implications that the "Fountain of Youth" concoctions they're all drinking contain some essence of previously killed victims... though it's really glossed over and not focused on.The main characters in this are eleven years old, but kids generally read up so you'd expect kids aged 8-11 to be interested. On the other hand, how do you know your child has reached that crucial "I'm okay with human sacrifice and implied cannibalism" stage? I have a nine and a ten year old, and I'm not entirely sure this wouldn't give my ten year old nightmares. She's a bit more sensitive.I still whole-heartedly recommend it. It was pure genius from beginning to end, but sensitive kids or kids who visualize far beyond the book's details might want to wait until they're older.

This engaging book pulled me in on the first page and I couldn't let go. It is an amusing, intriguing and well thought out mystery, but it is also an inspiring and magical story. It's like a comedy-action-adventure-mystery with magic. It was pure joy to read and easily the best book I have read this year. I have already begun reading it again. Once you enter the world of Cass and Max-Ernest you will never want to leave. It is a kid's book but like Harry Potter before it, everyone can get wrapped up in the world Bosch creates. I really loved this book and recommend it to anyone who likes to read. This book is a MUST!!!

You've "spilled the beans" and with them made the most irresistable dish of alchemy and intrigue that had me giggling and engaged with every page. Thank you for making the "footnote" something to look forward to (where else can kids and adults alike get a humorously concise yet accurate explanation of Art Nouveau, Mussolini and synesthesia?) and surprising me with plot twists (and puzzles!) when I least expected them. My apologies, sir, but I will not keep this secret. This holiday season I know what I'll be giving all the readers I know: The deliciously secret story by the charmingly pendantic Pseudonymous Bosch.

Perry I have read all the Dixie Hemingway books and unfortunately they are just not the same since Blaize Clement passed away. Her son does a good copy and story is still very entertaining & I will keep buying them. But books are now more focused on murder details and less about the animals she might be keeping. Only 2 pets mentioned in this book, besides Ella, Dixie's cat.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Just Okay By Deb Lily Not quite up to par with the rest of the books. The story didn't really seem to hold my interest as much as the previous books. I agree with one of the reviewers that it is time for Dixie to move on from her grief. She needs to put some of those issues to rest. I love the series, but this book just did not quite measure up to the rest.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Wish it was better By G. Gauldin Up to now I've enjoyed this series of books. This book, however, did not measure up to what I expect. The mystery was not put together very well. There was too much continuing introspection and grief. I have experienced the death of a child but I don't think the current author has. It is time to let Dixie come to grips and move on.

From the Author I love Dickens' Christmas Carol, and I wanted to create a uniquely American version.  And by "America," I mean everything from the Bering Strait to Tierra del Fuego.Teachers tell me their Latino students especially love this book as they can really relate to the story of the Mexican immigrant Emilio Scrooge, and his adventures with Coyote, Mariposa, Venado, and La Llorona.  They also have remarked that the boys really love this book, which was a goal of mine.I love Lucinda Mayo's lively Spanish language version more than the English version!

About the Author Malcolm MacDonald is a writer, artist and Latino Wannabe from the village of La Cañada. While teaching in Mexico, he wrote the award-winning play Coyote’s Christmas Carol, which continues to be performed throughout the world. This is his first children’s book.

In this memoir, General Forsyth elected to relate four major events of his long military career, two from his Civil War Days and two from his service in the Indian wars in the West. Most famous, of course, is the account of his (along with 50 cavalry troops) holding off a thousand attacking Plains Indians, led by Roman Nose, for nine days in the summer of 1868 on an island in the Arickaree Fork of the Republican River in eastern Colorado that became known as the Battle of Beecher Island. Forsyth, wounded in three places, was brevetted brigadier-general for his actions there. Also included from his frontier days is his telling of the Apache raid he led against Geronimo in New Mexico in 1882 that took his troops deep into Mexico. The two Civil War records include his riding with Sheridan from Winchester to the Battle of Cedar Creek in October 1864, and his reminiscence of the closing scene at Appomattox Court House and Lee's surrender to Grant.Forsyth's main interest is in giving the details in as exciting a manner as dignity will allow. Dialogue is included and much of it sounds invented (the death scene of Lt. Beecher might have been exactly as Forsyth describes it, but it sounds straight out of a romance novel of the day: "I have my death-wound general. I am shot in the side and dying."). Historians and realists might cringe at this kind of thing, but it has its appeal, too, for those wanting a strong human (and heroic) element to the writing. What it attempts to do, it does well. An enjoyable first-hand account of one man's take on a few highlights in his military career.

And they were thrilling By Thomas Marsh At the end of the Civil War George Forsyth found he liked the Army and stayed until medically retired in 1890. In that time he was in 18 battles, 40 skirmishes; he was wounded 6 times and received 5 brevet commissions for bravery. He commanded at Beecher's Island, was with Sheridan on the ride to Winchester and sat on the porch of Appomattox Court House. In true John Ford/John Wayne fashion, he led 6 troops of the 4th Cavalry "to the rescue".And this is the short version.

While exploring the ruins of the ancient Peruvian Norte Chico civilization, a group of archeologists unearth a mummified corpse buried in the side of a cliff. As the team examines the find, a debilitating sickness spreads among them. They have released Lamashtu, the bringer of disease and death, and must find a way to destroy it.

Lamashtu is a fresh perspective on the iconic mummy trope. While it has its roots in the long-familiar legend, Cooley's modern adaptation moves the action from Egypt to South America. He reinvents the ancient story by mixing Peruvian and Sumerian mythology to create a twisted tale that is classic Cooley.

What a perfect way to start the holiday By Damon Henrichs So I'm laying in bed on Halloween morning and look what pops up in my kindle! What a perfect way to start the holiday. I won't give too much away since it's a short story other than to say: mummies. This falls more in to the Garaaga style story Cooley has played around with. In other words, plenty of history/mythos mixed in with the horror. Honestly my only complaint is that he has not extended this idea into a full loength novel yet. The short stories are great (keep them coming!) but every great set up appetizers eventually needs a main course . . . and some beer . . . maybe a nice cheese plate and some creme brulee for dessert, but I digress.Anyway, great little read.

Finding a mummy no one thought could be found? Millions! The moment you realize you messed with the wrong mummy? Yep, you're screwed! Thanks for the Halloween Treat Paul!

Fun story that I finished in one sitting (but like all Cooley's work, there will be blood!).I don't want to spoil the experience, so I won't give away too many plot details here. Suffice to say, all the warning signs were there, but the modern-day scientists just didn't understand. Made me think about what future explorers might stumble across in a few thousand years, not understanding our symbols for nuclear waste.I agree that I would love to see this one expanded into a novel.

Children love books, almost as much as they love camping! “Goodnight, Campsite,” is the perfect place for young readers to start a great outdoor adventure and discover camping options along the way – options from tents to various recreational vehicles (RVs). “Goodnight, Campsite,” is set in a beautiful nature park. The story follows visitors as they explore the park during the day (hiking, biking, fishing, etc.), and then returns with them to their campsite at night. Preschool-aged children will love the beautiful and colorful pictures – and searching for the squirrel hiding in the pictures. Rhyming text will keep children engaged, as they build sound associations and phonemic skills. Also included in the book is a Campsite Bingo game!

By JaC I ordered 4 copies of this cute book to give as Christmas gifts to my friends' kids; however, when my family saw the book this past weekend they loved it so much I ended up giving them all of the copies I had. So, I will definitely be purchasing more copies now! This book's fun rhyming text and colorful illustrations do a wonderful job of capturing the varied experiences, adventures, and beauty of camping. My family, kids and adults alike, love this book and can't wait to play Campsite Bingo (found at the end of the book) on our next camping trip. This book will have a special place in our camper!

Especially entertaining is the fact that it covers all types of camping experienced by the wide variety of people, young and older who love to do it : little kids, adventure loving young adults, scouts, and retired older folks. All the different people you meet when you camp! One thing I really loved was the little squirrel on every page. It's great to have the kids look for him!
