All her life Sue Nicholson has known there is more to our existence than the physical life we live. She was always different and others sensed this. Her accurate insight into those around her left her friendless. As she matured, she learnt to hide her special connection to the Spirit world and endeavoured to lead a normal life as best she could. Later, spurred on by Spirit and turbulent experiences, she began to use her talents to help those around her. Eventually her abilities attracted wider acclaim while re-examining unsolved murder cases in the highly successful television series, Sensing Murder. Sue Nicholson continues to help create a communication link between those who have passed over to the Spirit world and the living. Through this interaction Sue is able to help others reach a sense of peace and understanding of why they are here. This book is a biography of Sue Nicholson's life, as told to and written by Sue Murray.

Despite a very severe childhood, this lady developed her natural Spiritual gifts and went on to give comfort and guidance to those in need., She brings to many the awareness of our Spirit friends, and thus giving understanding of the ups and downs we suffer during our lifetime.., this book is very interesting and is worth reading.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Love this story of courage and commitment! By Linda P. Burke As a lover of all things mystical and spiritual, I felt a deep kinship with Sue Murray as I read this book. I was already a believer, and her stories just confirmed what I already know. I am thankful for her courage and honesty in telling her story. I loved the book and immediately upon finishing it, I searched for more titles by her and was disappointed to find none. I look forward to reading more books by her in the future as I am sure she will be drawn to do. She is a gifted, humble medium with a profound story that is amazing and comforting to read.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. This Book Brought Me Peace By Nicole J Barrett I was unable to sleep and was praying for peace as I was worried about a new job, my direction in life, and relationship issues. In a state of anxious insomnia, I picked up my Kindle and began searching for a book to read that would distract me from my anxious thoughts. I came across this book and stayed up for a few more hours because I couldn't put it down. Reading about spirit from a medium who had been through worse things in life than me yet was able to reframe everything as a blessing was just the medicine my spirit needed to find some peace. Though the book was free to me as an Amazon Prime member, I decided to buy the book so I wouldn't lose the important information woven through this wondrous book as threads of light.

In July of 2014, turmoil prevails in many countries around the globe by mere coincidence or possibly by design.

James Lane is a moderately successful Australian businessman who receives a strange summons. His presence is requested in London by an acquaintance known as Barnaby which he feels compelled to accept. The only explanation he receives is an old leather box file that he finds waiting on his aeroplane seat.

Travelling via extravagant private jet James soon learns that the box file once belonged to an English shipping magnate named Jon Calder who died over seventy years ago.

Teaming up with semi-retired Special Air Forces operative Jack Warner, it becomes apparent that James is becoming entangled in the sinister dealings of a powerful organisation. The enigmatic Barnaby and his extraordinary capabilities afford some protection, but for how long?

What does Calder have to do with James? How is Barnaby involved? Who or what is behind the looming threat? Whatever the answers, Calder somehow foresaw the events of 2014 and the part James would need to play in them. Someone or something called Morfius may hold the keys to answering these questions.

It is up to James and Jack Warner to find the truth, before it’s too late.

If only our eyes could be opened to the presence of angels around us; ministering, serving, and protecting us on God’s behalf… Marjorie J. Reed was legally blind, tired, and battling depression and anxiety the day her eyes were opened to a vision from God. It wasn’t Marjorie’s first encounter with angels or her first direct message from the Lord, but this time it would change her life forever. God’s message came out of a cloud of purest white: “You will write a book.” Writing a book had always been her heart’s desire, but it seemed impossible, especially now that she couldn’t see to read, let alone write. But God knew Marjorie had a story to tell. As with everything else in her life, he would make a way to complete the job he gave her when there seemed to be no way. Throughout her life, Marjorie’s encounters with angels came at just the right time. These encounters confirmed her belief that God’s ways are always best. Her story is a testament to God’s provision over adversity. Of his love during challenges, hardships, and tragedies.

I Could Have Died A Thousand Deaths: Memoirs of a life of adventure, purpose, and joy on an island in the San Francisco Bay, by Dave LeMoine

About the Author My life was one adventure after another growing up. I didn't realize that I could have been easily killed or maimed by my own carelessness. Kids are so invincible you know! However, experience with death came early in my life, through my dad dying in front of me from a little-known genetic factor, Familial Hyper Cholesterol Anemia, or clogged arteries. I was only eight years old at the time and relived his death when I went on my first call in the fire department 19 years later. I could have died many times in this uncertain world. Here are a few examples: on Bay Farm Island stuck in shoulder-deep mud; crashing cars in the Oakland Hills; in a gas explosion at a brass foundry, with molten metal blowing up in my face; in my father-in-law's yacht, which was on fire ten miles off the Southern California coast; or being attacked and stoned by Hamas terrorists in Israel, who would have burned us to death. Thirteen years into my career, the gene that killed my dad was uncovered in me. I thought my life was over, but God had different plans. I now know His hand has been guiding me all this time during: The Bay Farm Island Years; The Happy Days Era; The Fire Years, and My Spiritual Journey. Join me as I relate my life full of ups, downs, laughter, and tears through what, I've been told by friends, is an inevitable screen play.

1647, Windsor Connecticut Fear of witchcraft was not brought about by the God fearing people of my village but through the whispers of a demon, clothed in seductive crimson, an expert of womanly wiles. It was she that destroyed my town from within, tore my family apart and sent me to an innocent's death. I am not a witch but I will burn as one. Not for fear but for greed. For lust. For the pursuit of something far beyond the reach of any human. Most people think the witch trials began in Salem. They are wrong. This is my tale.

I started this book the day that I got it, and I couldn't put it down. I have some of Amy's books, but I haven't had the opportunity to read them. That is going to change. I read this book, and loved every single word that this book had. Growing up, you heard the story of the salem witches, Obsidian Flames is much better than that story. This is the story that I would have rather heard about. This one is so much better!! I HIGHLY recommend this book, and this author. If you haven't read her books yet, change that NOW!!!

Triumph or Tragedy is a compilation of true stories written by victims or family members of crimes, sexual assaults, inadequate medical care, and other issues that occur on cruise ships. The purpose of this compilation is to hold cruise lines accountable for the safety, welfare, and provision of medical services to cruise line passengers and crew members. Although described as "floating hotels", the increase in size of many cruise ships now make them equivalent to small cities as they sail across the waters. Americans believe that because they board these ships in U.S. ports of call, they will enjoy all of the rights and privileges of security and medical care that they would experience in a U.S. city of equal size. What they don't realize is that these ships do not come under American law for crime reporting or medical care when the events occur beyond the three mile limit of U.S. territorial waters. This book gives voice to the victims and family members left behind.

New Zealander Nathan Fa’avae is a world champion adventure racer, considered by many to be the best in the history of the sport. In Adventurer at Heart he shares his life story, and provides a compelling and unique insight into this remarkable pursuit. It takes a Tour de France cyclist about 90 hours of cycling, spread over three weeks with rest days, to complete the race. An adventure race, however, can take up to 160 hours of non-stop racing over as much as six days, with virtually no sleep or rest. To excel at this sport requires an elite level of skill in mountain running, mountain biking, kayaking, rafting and navigation but, above all, an almost superhuman capacity to endure suffering and pain. Part-Samoan, Nathan was raised in Nelson, and it was as a wayward adolescent that he discovered outdoor adventure. Since then he has never looked back, and has been a full-time adventurer working as an outdoor educator, the owner of multiple adventure-based businesses, and a professional athlete. Nathan’s career has taken him all over the world, and he has raced in the deserts of Africa, Mexico and the Emirates, the plains of Tibet and China, and the peaks and valleys of Nepal, Ecuador, Brazil, Patagonia, Russia, the European Alps, and New Zealand. Adventurer at Heart is a story of courage and perseverance, and of overcoming tremendous challenges. Nathan Fa’avae is an outstanding New Zealander, and this book is an inspiring account of what it takes to become a world champion.

An entertaining and insightful read By Fiona McBryde Great read, well written and fantastic insights into what goes on the 'behind the scenes" in a world champion team, told in a typically straight-talking Kiwi style. A bonus that is not mentioned in the blurb is that as well as an autobiography, this also doubles as a guide book to inspire lots of adventures and missions in NZ and overseas!

On the last day of June, my bush pilot left me alone and without food in a wilderness rainforest of Southeast Alaska. He would return in September. For the next ten weeks my survival would depend on foraging, hunting and fishing on an island I would share with 1,600 brown bears. This is my story of hunger and solitude, salmon fishing and stormy seas, torrential rains and mountain sunsets, giant halibut and deer hunting, campfires and killer whales. Illustrated with nearly fifty photos and a map.

Genuine Adventure By Amazon Customer Bruce "Buck Nelson's new book, "Alone in the Fortress of the Bears" is a fascinating account of his 70 day "living off the land" survival trip in southeast Alaska. Few people possess the outdoor survival skills and knowledge necessary for completing such an adventure and fewer still possess the mental and physical fortitude required to put up with the hardships and loneliness encountered on a trip such as this. Buck handles all with apparent ease.I had a hard time putting the book down once I began reading. I rationed it by reading only 2 or 3 chapters a day to make it last longer. Some books written in journal or diary style can be a chore to read. Not this one. It's well written and the story flows easily in his matter-of-fact style of writing. It's as if you are alongside Buck. You quiver with anticipation as he pulls up his crab trap to find what is inside. Your heart pounds as he wades through tall grass, having spotted a brown bear just ahead. You tremble with excitement and trepidation as he fights a monster halibut from his inflatable kayak. He intersperses his tale with related experiences from his past which further increases the appeal of this book. If you're an outdoorsman, or if you like tales of adventure or both, you will love this book.P. Bouray

A lot of Smokejumpers liked hunting, fishing By Michael Fitzpatrick A lot of Smokejumpers liked hunting, fishing, hiking and travel, but this unpretentious bachelor Norwegian farmer is the only one that could have hung with Lewis and Clark. After reading about one of his other adventures, I contacted Buck with a quote from another great writer and lover of this beautiful country America:"Now I see the secret of the making of the best personIt is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth. Here a great personal deed has room(Such a deed seizes upon the hearts of the whole race of men,It’s effusion of strength and will overwhelms laws mocks all authority and all argument against it). - Walt WhitmanFortress of the Bears is great adventure and a great read.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Outstanding! Now THAT is how to write a book about the outdoors. By RID I was really impressed with "Alone in the Fortress of the Bears". It’s fitting that Buck’s latest adventure produced such a well written book. He does a wonderful job of recreating the survival experience with his vivid descriptions of the flora and fauna of Admiralty Island, and is particularly good at including the reader in the interesting detail of how to stay alive in the backwoods. But, the best is yet to come; it’s Buck’s straightforward and genuine approach. You never get the impression that he is the centerpiece, it is the remote island, the stunning scenery, the wildlife, and the survival experience that is front and center. If you love the outdoors, look no further.

Rediscover the Enchantment!

A ship bearing the souls of sinful sailors drifts upon a ghostly sea. An abbey looms as the final defense between mortals and ghouls of the underworld. In the stillness of a throne room, statues stand forever frozen in a moment of terror. Monsters and men stalk their prey deep in the jungle's shadows. A rose blooms in the dead of winter, sheltered in the ruins of an ancient Scottish castle.

And only true love can free the Beast from his prison.

11 of 11 people found the following review helpful. I was delighted by the ways in which the stories adhered to--and ... By K. Reeder This was a new experience for me--an anthology of stories based on the same fairy tale. As I read through them, I began to be aware that I felt rich, as I feel when time unexpectedly opens up in my day, or my gas tank is full--the feeling that the world is full of limitless potential, and that I can step out in any direction and be off on an adventure. I had in my hands not one but five completely new worlds to explore, places I'd never been before, although some of them did seem vaguely familiar. As I moved through one world into the next, I was delighted by the ways in which the stories adhered to--and deviated from--the original. Though each of them had the kind and courageous heroine (and not a milk-water miss among them), the Beast ranged from frightening to cranky to underappreciated to merely misunderstood, and in one case wasn’t who you thought it was at all. Not one of the authors had to resort to teacups to people her tale with supporting characters, some of whom were as endearing as the principals. It was with regret that I left each of those worlds, only to be swept up into and captivated by another.I've always thought of Beauty and the Beast as the most satisfying of the classic fairy tales, because it depicts a Truth of the Real World--unconditional love actually does change the human heart (even a beastly one). I feel that these people really will live happily ever after. (I've always been somewhat skeptical of that outcome in Cinderella--yes, she's a sweetheart, but is he really more than an empty suit, gold lace notwithstanding?) Yet Five Enchanted Roses was even better than I imagined it would be. Now I want to read the first book in this series, Five Glass Slippers (yes, I know, Cinderella), and then the to-be-announced next in the series, dubbed “Five Something Something” by the editor, Anne Elizabeth Stengl (whose Tales of Goldstone Wood series I am constantly recommending to my friends and acquaintances). There is one last element that I loved about this book. The pictures at the beginning of each story, the visual introduction to that world, were just beautiful. (I kept scrolling back to take a look at them in the middle of my reading.) So, lovers of Fairy Tales, pick up or download this book. Adventure awaits. Now I must go find some Slippers.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. "Beauty and the Beast" is one of my favorite fairy tales By char w "Beauty and the Beast" is one of my favorite fairy tales; I love the Disney version with it's fun songs and characters, and classic storyline. When I heard that the next Five Something Somethings contest was going to be "Beauty and the Beast," I was so excited! Having now read the five winning stories, I was right to be. This new collection has a much different feel overall than Five Glass Slippers, but Five Enchanted Roses is no less amazing. I feel that these stories have a more serious air to them, perhaps because they deal with a more serious theme. While all the stories are completely, 100% unique, they are also completely recognizable as "Beauty and the Beast" retellings. Oh, and did I mention the gorgeous cover? And the amazing cover pages for each of the stories? Because they are seriously pretty, and help immediately set the mood of each individual story."Espirit de la Rose" by Kaycee Browning is a wonderful opening to the collection. It draws you in immediately, jumping right into the action. This story is set on a ghostly pirate ship filled with some unpredictable characters that keep you turning the pages to find out what will happen next. With this and "Rosara and the Jungle King," I was unsure how such different settings would work with a "Beauty and the Beast" story, but they certainly did, giving each one distinctive atmosphere.Next comes Savannah Jezowski's story "Wither." This story was perhaps the most unpredictable one for me. With a sympathetic beast character and a headstrong young girl, this story kept me guessing until the end. It seems to follow the original story closely for a while, but the setting is so different that you never doubt for a moment it's a new story entirely."Stone Curse" was much different from the original. In starting at the castle and having to venture out, and bringing the beast along with her, Karyna shows her determination to break the curse from the very beginning. She isn't the traditional "Beauty" character that is hesitant to love the Beast, but is instead set on breaking the spell. Jenelle Schmidt created a cast of endearing characters in Karyna, Barend, and Ritter that had me laughing at their antics, nervous as they go on an adventure, and desperate to see how their story ended. Though I was able to see part of how the ending would turn out, another part of the story was a complete surprise to me.Dorian Tsukioka's tale was perhaps the one I was most excited to read. "Rosara and the Jungle King" is set in the Amazon Jungle amidst local tribes, rivers, and jungle creatures. When I found out that one of the winning stories had such a unique setting, I immediately wanted to read it and find out how the author did it. the story did not disappoint my hopes for it. With unpredictable twists and turns, I followed Rosara through her quest to find happiness and escape the life laid before her. This story does perhaps have the most mature content, and while never explicit, it may be a read best left for older teens and adults. Still, the message throughout the book about sacrifice and love are good ones, and they remain true to the original "Beauty and the Beast."Finally, the story that kept closest to the original material is Wulver's Rose. Set in Scotland, with lots of great accents to remind you whenever there is dialogue, Hayden Wand managed to somehow keep much of the original story-line while still making it her own. I think that if I had to pick a favorite from this collection, this story may be it. Bonnie is a relatable character trying to learn how to forgive herself, even after her family has forgiven her. And the Wulver has a motivation all his own, perhaps stronger than that of even the original Beast. It was a wonderful closing to a wonderful collection.I recommend this book for lovers of fairy tales, but also those who love adventure, a little romance, and being surprised by the ending of a book. This collection has all of that and more. (Plus the beautiful cover :)) Anne Elisabeth and her team at Rooglewood did a great job compiling a collection that, in my opinion, is even better than the last. The author of each story did an amazing job at writing unique retellings that still capture the essence of the original.

Burton Beauty and the Beast is a wondrous tale of looking beyond what we see to the hidden truth beneath. One of my all-time favorite tales, the story addresses the theme of the unloved encountering grace. I enjoy any retelling of this fairy tale, and Five Enchanted Roses presents marvelous reinterpretations that are not easily forgotten. Set in such varied locations as a pirate's ship, a world where wraiths and ghouls prey upon the weak and an Amazonian-like jungle, this book will delight any discriminating reader. Below are my ratings and opinions of each story.1. "Esprit de la Rose," by Kaycee Browning. Rating: 3 stars. I loved the creativity of having this story set on a pirate ship. Cecilia, the heroine, is likable, loyal to those who have hurt her in the past and spunky in a gentle way. The undersea mermaids provided a creepy but compelling touch, and I loved the idea of the ship as a character, how it mirrored those aboard it. I never felt like I truly connected with the beast character, but the story is fun and engaging.2. "Wither," by Hannah Jezowski. Rating: 5 stars. Set in a world where ravenous ghouls and wraiths seek to gain dominance, this is a heartwrending tale of one protector's desperate attempt to save that with which he's been entrusted. "Wither" is also the story of Lilybet, a practical girl with a fiercely loyal spirit determined to save her younger sister at all costs. I loved the characterization in this story, and the beast is extremely empathetic. The world building is superb, leaving room for the hopeful possibility of more stories from this author. I loved how the chapters of this tale alternated from the beauty and beast characters' perspectives.3. "Stone Curse," by Jenelle Schmidt. Rating: 5 stars. This story tells of a Beauty character who must leave a castle in order to lift a curse. It is a tale of a visiting prince who is transformed through no fault of his own. I loved the twist ending and how the author examines the theme of what truly makes a person a beast. The tale is simply told but beautifully written. One of my favorites.4. "Rosara and the Jungle King," by Dorian Tsukioka. Rating: 4 stars. Set in a jungle where brutal men seek to ruthlessly claim what they desire, this story tells of a young woman's desperate fight for survival. It is a coming-of-age story in which two characters flee from predetermined fates only to find each other. Yet many dangers stand in their way, and can Rosara's newly-found friend be trusted? Rosara's voice is engaging, and I loved her independent spirit. The setting is wonderfully conveyed and unique. I did feel that some of the characterization fell flat, and the love story seemed too abrupt for my taste. However, Mrs. Tsukioka employs beautiful imagery, and I particularly loved the description of the Karawara, or "jungle spirits."5. "The Wulver's Rose," by Hayden Wand. 5 stars. My utmost favorite of this collection, this retelling is set in Scotland. The tale most closely resembles the original classic in both tone and plot. However, there's more than enough surprises to maintain interest, and the beast's motivations moved me to tears. Bonnie is sweet but strong, and I loved how Ms. Wand explored the themes of guilt and sacrifice so compellingly. Filled with breathtaking imagery, authentic dialect and vivid characters, this story is worth the price of the book alone.I encourage everyone to read this riveting collection of inventive retellings of such a universal story. You will not be disappointed. God bless you all.

Successful author and all around nice guy Dean Cassidy has lived with the misfortune of loving two women for far too long. Although he deeply loves his wife of 22 years, he just can't shake his haunting memories of his childhood sweetheart, Theresa Wayman. Never has the sun set on a day when images of Theresa haven't raided his mind - images gilded with the golden memories of youth. But now, things are getting worse. A string of events occur that suddenly tighten the torturous triangle in on him like a three-sided vice.

Day after day, Dean is pummeled by a soul-numbing succession of guilt and uncertainty. Alone in his inner battle, he feels himself getting closer to the edge of madness. Then, to make matters even worse, he suddenly comes face to face with the worst tragedy of his life. But the human spirit does not destruct easily. It's resilient and tenacious. And as close to going down as Dean is, he's determined to keep swinging until the very end.

Forever Three, the standalone sequel to internationally acclaimed best seller Beyond Nostalgia, gives voice to the joy and pain of love.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Richly Rewarding Reading! By Soooz Burke My review of FOREVER THREE by Tom Winton.Having read and been deeply moved by ‘Beyond Nostalgia’ I was delighted to find that author Tom Winton had penned a sequel. Although this book can easily stand alone.Life has pain in store at some point, for all of us.It’s how we deal with that pain, and how we struggle, often unsuccessfully, to move beyond it that alters the end game.Author Tom Winton has tapped into that pain, that experience; the regrets, the longing … and the destructive forces we humans carry within us to destroy what we have, before it destroys us.The character of Dean is a man, a complex, fallible man, and a man capable of great love. He is equally capable of being blinded by what once was, at the risk of losing what now is.It is part of the human condition to wonder “What if?” To nurture and dream of the ‘If only …’ in our lives. This author has a deep gut level understanding of these demons that propel us. He possesses the enviable gift of empathy, an empathy that draws us in, because we recognize these characters, and the things within their nature that lay buried within our own psyche. He had me sighing in recognition with his beautifully penned words. Can any one of us say honestly that they have not wondered at some point in their lives if someone is out there that will always remember us with love and longing? The characters of Therese and Maddy are equally complex. They have their own demons. They share a history with this man, a love, a lifetime of sad regrets, and a need to know which of them will be the acknowledged last love of his life.Author Tom Winton takes us on a journey in this book. A journey that compelled me to read on, often blinded by tears, and just as often feeling anger and frustration with the character of Dean. These characters will affect you, they made me … feel. I became involved in their lives. I was given the gift of belonging for a time within these pages. That in my opinion is the measure of a wonderfully talented and gifted author.I once said of Tom Winton that he ‘writes with a pen dipped in his soul.’This book reinforces that completely. If you are to read only one book in this genre this year, I strongly recommend that you make it this one.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Not your typical hearts and flowers romance novel By Rukia the Reader If you are looking for a fulfilling, heartwarming yet realistic read that will leave a lasting impression on you then try this, you will not be disappointed. This is not your typical hearts and flowers romance novel. It is at times a heart-rending tale of love, family, grief, hope and commitment against the odds, being set in the backdrop of emotional infidelity. A subject that many avoid or deny exists it is honestly portrayed in this outstanding novel. It is cleverly constructed to dip and out of Dean's past to convey a story which starts with a teenage love affair torn apart by immature actions and changing family circumstances. Despite Dean and Theresa, his first love, both moving on to decades of life and love apart from each other physically; psychologically they are set to reunited, but not without consequences. As Dean achieves success as an author this is overshadowed by tragedy. The depiction of his demise into grief, alcohol and gambling habits following the death of his wife brings a tear or at least empathy to the hardest of souls. A highly recommended read and as cliché as it sounds I read this thinking 'what an awesome film it would make.'

Great storyForever Three.I have read all of Tom Wintons books, and I love the way tells the story, he makes you feel part of the book. In this book we follow the times of Dean. Dean was a salesperson who wrote a book that was published by one of the bigger company's.He went on to write more books and became a very successful author. He was married to Maddie and had 2 kids but he could not let his first love Theresa go from his mind. This book will grip you from start to end and will take you through every emotion on a roller coaster of a journey. Highly recommended.5 stars. 30 January 2015.

Pitts This is not a History book or a how to book, this is a mans autobiography. You have to understand that firstly is was written in 1955, and so has no information on the latest revelations regarding the role of Ultra etc. It also appears to have written from memory - with no evidence of supporting documenation, consequently there are documentable errors with respect to Timiings and names etc. Nevertheless this is a legitimate addition to the history of the battle of the Atlantic - of ones man role in it as remembered a decade after the events by a man who spent 5 years continously in action and who suffered emotionally for it. If it is a little standoffish who are we to judge, had we experienced these things we may too want to be selective in whatt we record for posterity. For me this was an authentic memoir, worth reading, and a book that puts the documentaed history into a real personal perspective.

Written in 1955, 10 years after the end of WW2 didnt dull his senses or the message he was trying to make the reader understand. It is a ship captain view from the bridge of each ship he commanded.Since it reprinted I would suggest anyone who is a naval historian or likes naval warfare will enjoy this book guaranteed!

Excellent war biography By Bluewater cruiser Interesting story of a yachtsman (sailor) who wanted to fight U-boats and joined the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve. It's a real story, but not a dry historical account. I read the 1974 paperback version...... Sometime later followup - I'm now reading another of his - The Long Fight - I'm thinking the name is the same - and it turns out to be the same author. I google the name and find his bio - [...] - very interesting person...... Much later - I just read a very good book on convoy protection in corvettes - "Three Corvettes" by Monsarrat. These 2 authors have very similar backgrounds - yachtsmen become commanders and captains. Another excellent book of this type is Monserrat's "Three Corvettes". Three Corvettes

Who can bear that "yes"? Can anyone hear it without feelings of disgust? HEN. What is there in marriage which can oblige you, sister, to…. ARM. Ah! Fie! HEN. What? ARM. Fie! I tell you. Can you not conceive what offence the very mention of such a word presents to the imagination, and what a repulsive image it offers to the thoughts? Do you not shudder before it? And can you bring yourself to accept all the consequences which this word implies? HEN. When I consider all the consequences which this word implies, I only have offered to my thoughts a husband, children, and a home; and I see nothing in all this to defile the imagination, or to make one shudder. An enemy of the pedantry By carlos rezende Moliere, with his works, hit a deep blow in the all absurdities of French life and, beyond that,in the whole society of his time.A revolutionary by abandonning the beauty poetry in plays for a simple and vigorous dialogues which resemble later Shaw's works.

The best thing is the theme is just as relevant today as it was four hundred years ago. Even more so With morals today at a real low, where physical attritubes having the highest rank, especially for the fairer sex.

This story really inspired me to make the most of my time and to leave a legacy of helping and mentoring others. This was more special because I know Clara from the Forest Service although I hadn't seen her since she left the Southern Region. I will recommend it to everyone and will tell others about it. Many Blessings, Sherry Reaves

West Yes, this timeless book to me is a five star read and should be read by anyone facing some of the many challenges of life head on and refusing to let circumstances dictate how they will live their lives one day at a time. I had the privilege of not only working with Clara for a number of years but also served as her immediate supervisor up until I retired from my Federal Service position. Clara is one of the brightest, caring and hard working individuals that one could work with and beside in spite of her own physical ALS diagnosis. Clara went about each day as an exemplary employee whose goal was to deliver the best product she could in dealing with issues both internally with people and externally with issues that impacted our National Forests across this country. This book will cause men and women to both laugh and maybe even shed a tear or two as you read this story that looks at what to do when you don't know what to do. It was one of the highlights of my career to have worked with Clara who gave of herself daily without hesitation to others while dealing with personal challenges and issues of her own.

Me encantó.
