The Passing of the Great Race Or the Racial Basis of European History was written by Madison Grant, American lawyer, eugenicist, and conservationist. This book explains SO MUCH--and is a stunning look at people's perspective and laws from 100 years ago By Alex I am going to buy this book--I checked it out from the library first but there are so many interesting points made--things that in today's multi-culti, politically correct world are impossible to say anymore.This book discusses the three subspecies that make up the oft-erroneously called "Caucasian" (more appropriately but still not-quite-rightly called the "Indo-European") race: Whites. Grant discusses some 2000 years of history (not deeply, but sufficiently to make his point) and the white man's role in it.From his research it becomes clear, for example, why some whites become lazy and fat: They live in places where it is too hot (or are of a weaker constitution--and so they are physically unable to do much labor without becoming dangerously overheated) and instead hire dark-skinned people, who eventually overtake the culture--so the stronger whites move on to preserve their culture and heritage and the weaker ones stay around and become obliterated.As a side note, he also mentions that it has been found that when whites who are in too warm a climate go to a colder area, some of their physical ailments disappear--that whites need a periodic blast of cold, northern air and fog to keep them healthy. Whites need something to struggle against, just like a knife needs something to be sharpened with, if nothing but the weather and all that it entails.He discusses the silliness of Hindus claiming they are every drop of blood Englishmen--because they speak English! As if blood and skin color and culture were irrelevant. As the author discusses, language is but a veneer--blood is everything.

By Marinus This racist classic is historically important, clearly demonstrating that the ideas that later did so much harm in Nazi Germany were also found among respectable educated people in the United States in 1916.The Kindle edition is a photograph of the 1916 edition, and the pages are SIDEWAYS, both in the sample pages on the Amazon website and in the free sample you can download. No Kindle or Kindle app, as far as I know, lets you rotate the text 90 degrees to the right, and so it is close to unreadable.It is a public service to make important books like this one available for just four bucks, but someone at Amazon should check them before putting them on the website.
