He also contributed a large number of valuable papers on historical and topographical subjects to the journals of several Antiquarian Societies, of which he was an active and most useful member.His last work was "Our Martyrs: a Record of those who suffered for the Catholic Faith in Ireland under the Penal Laws." This work, of which he had signed the last proof sheet the day before his death, was undertaken in fulfilment of the duty imposed upon him when he was appointed, ten years before, by the Bishops of Ireland, Promoter of the Cause of those who had given up their lives for the Faith in the dark penal times.His unexpected death occurred during the night which preceded the 18th of May, 1896.The work which is here reprinted has received the praise of the best and most unprejudiced critics for its learning and impartiality. About the Author Denis J. Murphy is Professor of Biotechnology at the University of Glamorgan, UK. His career in plant biotechnology research spans three decades, including ten years on the management team of the John Innes Centre, arguably Europe's premier research centre in plant science. He is currently highly involved with the ongoing debate on genetically modified food and crops, both locally and internationally, providing expertise and advice to numerous organisations and government agencies, as well as engaging with the general public and the media.

He was writing a paper on it for one of his college classes. It was such an interesting book that the whole family ended up reading it. This book was out of print and very hard to find. Thankfully for Amazon it pointed us to the right place. As old as this book is, it was in perfect shape and arrived in plenty of time for my son to finish his report. The book is so special, it is now one we hope to keep forever and pass on to other generations and we hope learn from mistakes that are made for naugh.
